March 26, 2007 – On March 1, 2007, The White House Office of the Press Secretary posted that President George W. Bush intends to nominate David G. Nason to the post of Assistant Secretary of the Treasury (Financial Institutions).
Nason, a native of North Providence, RI attended Mt. St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket. His parents and other family still live in North Providence,
The RI Jump$tart Coalition was pleased to coordinate a Rhode Island visit for Nason on October 19th, 2006 as he promoted positive credit usage in a high school class at Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School and led a policy discussion at Brown University’s Taubman Center for Public Policy & American Institutions.

We share in Ocean State pride as this native son has risen to be considered for such a high rank in the service of our nation. In an excerpt from a statement released on March 1, 2007; Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, stated, “I am truly pleased with the President's intention to nominate David Nason to succeed Assistant Secretary Emil Henry. David has already shown great commitment to the President's economic agenda and to the Treasury Department as a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions.”

In 2006, for the first time, Rhode Island high school seniors participated in the national Jump$tart Coalition personal financial literacy survey that measures teenagers¹ knowledge of personal financial literacy topics.
