Special Legislative Commission to Study Youth Financial Education
The Commission was created in April of 2007 by the Rhode Island Legislature through Senate bill S0804A and House bill H6235 (Prime Sponsors: Senator Daniel Issa and Representative Raymond Church). A release from the legislature can be found here.
The coalition is an active supporter of the commission's work and several RI Jump$tart directors serve as commission members. Executive Director, Jim Hedemark provided opening testimony at the first meeting of the commission in 2007 and the commission held a meeting at the coalition's 2007 Financial $marts for Students educator conference.
